The question is often asked whether the notion of society implies or even requires that there should be a relationship of control and/or power between people, between citizens and government, between subjects and the law. A further question has been asked as to whether an object (for example a photograph, but not limited to photographs), or an action (the photographic act) symbolically exerts power and control in the actual situations or ‘reality’ in which the photographer or artist more generally is working. What should be done with these objects and actions…do they require a response from the audience? What sort of response? These are questions that merit further consideration. I am intending to explore the role of society, the real, space, sculpture and image; questioning concepts surrounding the articulations of space, image and time. I want to develop a singular body of work that elaborates the phenomenological experience of space, (Based on the premise that reality consists of objects and events as they are perceived or understood in human consciousness and not of anything independent of human consciousness), and volume with unwavering consistency and ingenuity, which allows the viewer to experience the conceptual. My intention is to play with and to create minimalistic objects that are placed in spaces: two-dimensional objects are placed in three-dimensional space and objects ask the viewer's brain to perceive the rest of the form. In my work I am trying to communicate to the viewer with minimalistic idea.
I want to concentrate less on the development of a characteristic style and more on the way in which a process or activity can transform and/or become a work of art.
